Abstract

Developing an information system requires a structured approach to ensure that each stage of development proceeds systematically. This study aims to apply the Waterfall method to develop a profession recommendation system based on the RIASEC personality model (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional) for the Job Placement Center at Banyuwangi State Polytechnic. The development process encompassed requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The system was built using Laravel 8 and MySQL, featuring personality testing, personality type information, profession recommendations, management of test questions and user data, and test result summaries. The test instrument consisted of 42 statements representing the six RIASEC dimensions. Black-box testing results demonstrated that all core system functions operated according to requirements. An evaluation involving 13 respondents yielded scores of 81% for functional suitability, 80% for reliability, 85% for usability, and 89% for performance efficiency; the overall quality rating was 82%, placing it in the "good" category. The findings indicate that the Waterfall method is effective for the structured development of a profession recommendation system and assists students in identifying their personality tendencies and obtaining suitable career recommendations.
