Author Guidelines

SESSION: Software Development, Digital Business Intelligence, and Computer Engineering invites original research articles, systematic reviews and applied studies that fall within the journal's aim and scope. Manuscripts may be submitted in Indonesian or English.

Before you submit

  • The manuscript must be original, must not have been published previously, and must not be under consideration by another journal.
  • All authors must approve the submission and agree to the journal's copyright and licence terms.
  • Research involving human or animal participants must have approval from an appropriate ethics committee, and this must be stated in the manuscript.
  • Authors must declare any competing interests and any use of generative AI, in line with the journal's AI Policy.

Manuscript preparation

  • Use the official SESSION article template, available from the journal sidebar. Manuscripts that do not follow the template may be returned before review.
  • The LaTeX template can be opened directly in Overleaf with one click — no LaTeX installation and no file download required. See Writing in Overleaf below.
  • Structure the manuscript as follows: title; author names, affiliations and e-mail addresses; abstract; keywords; introduction; method; results and discussion; conclusion; acknowledgements (optional); references.
  • Provide an abstract in English that states the purpose of the study, the method used, the principal results and the conclusions drawn, followed by 3–5 keywords.
  • Number tables and figures consecutively and cite each one in the text. Figures must be legible and supplied at a suitable resolution.
  • Cite references in IEEE style, numbered in the order in which they appear in the text, for example [1].
  • Because the journal uses double-blind review, remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgements and any other identifying information from the manuscript file itself.

Writing in Overleaf

The SESSION LaTeX template can be opened straight in Overleaf, a free online LaTeX editor. You do not need to install LaTeX, and you do not need to download the template first.

→ Open the SESSION template in Overleaf

Clicking that link creates a copy of the template project in your own Overleaf account, with main.tex as the main document and pdfLaTeX as the compiler. Press Recompile and the sample manuscript appears immediately; then replace the content with your own.

Prefer to set it up yourself? Download the Overleaf package and choose New Project → Upload Project in Overleaf. The full package additionally includes the README, the sample article and the example figures.

These settings are already correct — do not change them: main document main.tex, compiler pdfLaTeX, document class session.cls, figure folder gambar/.

A Microsoft Word template is also available from the journal sidebar for authors who do not use LaTeX. The same writing rules apply to both templates; the full Author Guidelines document is available from the sidebar.

How your manuscript is handled

  1. Editorial screening. The editor checks the manuscript for scope, completeness and adherence to these guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet the minimum requirements may be desk-rejected.
  2. Double-blind peer review. Manuscripts that pass screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers. Neither the authors nor the reviewers know each other's identity. Reviewers are asked to respond within four weeks.
  3. Decision. On the basis of the reviewers' reports the editor decides to accept the manuscript, request a revision, or reject it.
  4. Copyediting and production. Accepted manuscripts are copyedited, typeset and published online with a DOI.

Fees

There is no submission fee. An Article Processing Charge of IDR 250,000 applies only to articles that are accepted for publication.

Copyright and licence

Authors retain the copyright of their work. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence, which permits unrestricted use, distribution and reproduction in any medium provided the original work is properly cited.
