Publication Ethic

JINGGO POLIWANGI Journal is a scholarly journal published by Politeknik Negeri Banyuwangi. This Publication Ethics Statement serves as the cornerstone for all parties involved in the publication process of our journal, including authors, the editorial board, peer reviewers, and the publisher. We are unequivocally committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct throughout all stages of publication. Our ethical framework is fundamentally based on the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Duties and Responsibilities of the Editorial Board (Editors)

  • Publication Decisions: The Editor-in-Chief is vested with the ultimate responsibility for deciding which of the submitted articles will be published. This decision is predicated on the scholarly merit of the work, including its validity, significance, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal's scope.

  • Objectivity and Fair Play: The editors will evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to the race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

  • Confidentiality: The editors and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Editors shall not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the express written consent of the author. Editors are required to recuse themselves from considering manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships.

  • Investigation of Ethical Complaints: The editors will take reasonably responsive measures when ethical complaints have been lodged concerning a submitted manuscript or published paper. This includes collaborating with the author and, if necessary, the relevant institution to investigate alleged misconduct.

2. Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions: The peer review process is an essential component that assists the editor in making editorial decisions and, through editorial communications with the author, may also serve to improve the manuscript.

  • Promptness: Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse themselves from the review process.

  • Confidentiality: Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

  • Standards of Objectivity: Reviews shall be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

  • Acknowledgement of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation.

  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

3. Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

  • Reporting Standards: Authors of original research reports should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. The underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A manuscript must contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work.

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original works. If the authors have used the work and/or words of others, this must be appropriately cited or quoted. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

  • Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication: An author should not, in general, publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior.

  • Authorship of the Manuscript: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors.

  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: All authors must disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project must be disclosed.

  • Fundamental Errors in Published Works: When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and to cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.

4. Duties of the Publisher

  • The publisher, Politeknik Negeri Banyuwangi, is committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions.

  • The publisher will collaborate with the editorial board to maintain academic integrity, ensure the highest standards are met, and shall be prepared to publish corrections, clarifications, and retractions when necessary.
