Abstract

The construction of septic tanks in Area X was carried out by contract laborers. It is estimated that the septic tanks do not meet the requirements regarding their distance from drinking water wells, as well as their shape and construction dimensions. Therefore, technical guidance is needed to evaluate the construction of septic tanks in accordance with SNI 2398:2017 and to determine solutions in the event of non-compliance. The evaluation results show that 49% of existing sanitation facilities are in good condition and 51% require the construction of properly built septic tanks; there are 14 newly constructed septic tanks made of reinforced concrete with a mix ratio of 1PC:2Ps:3Krk and a 10 cm-thick plaster finish, with an average length and width of 1.2 m and a height of 2 m. Regarding the condition of the new septic tanks, 84% met the requirements; 2 septic tanks met the minimum distance requirement (10 m) from the clean water well; 12 units met the capacity requirement, and 2 units did not yet meet it but this can be addressed by shortening the pumping interval to every 3 years; the length-to-width ratio requirement has not yet been met, but the depth exceeds the minimum requirement, so 86% of the tanks meet the capacity requirement. It is recommended that future septic tanks be constructed with a length of 1.6 m, a width of 0.80 m, and a depth of 1.78 m, with construction and spacing in accordance with the requirements.
